No, George was in the studio, with Huw in Beijing, meaning Carrie's covering Breakfast, the One and the news channel, with Huw anchoring the 5, the Six and the Ten.

Quite right about Carrie as well. The more she's on the better. I'm hoping Carrie will get a greater level of prominence in the News following her stint in China. I've found her work absolutely fantastic. Both her quality and level of reporting as well as speaking Chinese has made watching first-class. Well done to Carrie!

I presume some sudden absence tonight Sophie Long stayed till 11, now Maryam Moshiri has taken over, after doing the usual Biz rap at 10.45pm.

Jon Sopel now reporting from Beijing as well, so there are three newsreaders from the BBC out there now.

the fact that Beijing is 7 hours ahead must complicate things.

Jon Sopel on the news at six just now, it's 1am there.

When Huw is contributing to the news at ten, it's 5am there. is that gonna be the end of his working shift or the start?
