Ahh, thanks for clearing that up!

Anyway, Tim Willcox has just popped up on 'Reporters' and is doing it in the actual World Newsroom, not N8, but behind the glass, which is unusual as Zeinab's usually at the CSO.

Good to see Tim presenting from underneath that big red lit flying saucer thingy. But, did you notice that the camera was a bit shoogly? Maybe a hand-held one. Although the programme runs for about thirty minutes, I guess the presenter links are no more than two minutes collectively, making "Reporters" a relatively short programme to pre-record?

Indeed he was. Smile

The camera really was hideous on that. I can't decide if that makes it a one-off due to studio unavailability, or if they didn't think about how it would look with a hand-held. I suspect it's the former.

I actually didn't think the N8 newsroom was that modern inside, from the desk it tooks very tired and dated now! It's a shame they never updated it when it was refurbed in 2008. Even a new N6-style desk and the red panels, such as the 'spaceship' light above Tim changing colour to pink for GMT, orange for Impact Asia etc. would make a world of difference.

Lyse Doucet anchoring The Hub live from Benghazi, Libya. Who'd have thought it?

Reprimand for Maitlis / Sopel, from Alex Deakin, 'You're like a married couple you two', following Maitlis having a go at Sopel for talking over her.

Susannah Reid and John Kay on the sofa this morning; rather than Bill Turnbull who's listed in the RT.

Jon Sopel and Louise Minchin on together this afternoon - a rarity to say the least for a Tuesday

Is Ellie Crissell only employed by the BBC to read the 90 second update? She's rarely on the News Channel (thank the Lord). I wonder how much money she gets to do that when the presenter of the Six / Ten / News Channel or even the woman in the Tea Bar could easily knock it off.

I gather Geeta Guru-Murty will be doing Impact later today. I have noticed that there doesn't appear to be a "regular" stand-in on these programmes when the primary anchor is away (I guess Lyse Doucet is the main stand-in for both Impact and The Hub). But in the last 2-3 weeks, we've seen Mishal, Geeta (today), Lucy, Peter Dobbie and Tim Willcox all presenting Impact.

Edit: Zeinab Badawi on GMT, with Ben Brown in Libya. So, it seems that George is frequently away as well?

To be honest I suspect it's a similar salary to those of BBC London's late evening presenter, thus Riz Lateef can present the 8pm update instead of the late London news. I think, ultimately, the BBC should use the News at Ten presenter or even a news, sport or business presenter from the News Channel.
