Tim was on World this morning from 8-11.

Means he's now starting his third shift today then as he's just appeared.

On another note Carrie Gracie demonstrating her Chinese language skills just now during a Ten special report from an orphanage in China. Good to see the BBC remembering that some presenters still have much expert knowledge from their previous roles as correspondents and using it when necessary.

Gracie is in situ now for the Olympic Coverage. (If you are not aware) She's jointly presenting the Opening Ceremony with Huw on Friday 8th.

Let's hope Huw does a better job with this one then he did for 2012.

What a week for Sophie Long, as a former resident of Weston-Super-Mare firstly the Pier fire, which she covered, and now reporting on today's acquittal of Barry George who was tried and imprisoned for Jill Dando's murder.

Dando also resided in Weston, and Sophie Long received a bursary from the BBC marking Dando's death.

I really can't imagine what is going through her head this afternoon.

Interesting points.

She certainly has been given much more exposure in recent weeks - no longer restricted (if that's the right word) to her evening shifts on the NC over the weekend. I wonder if she'll return for her 7-10 shift tonight....they'll probably get someone to cover no doubt.

Well she's clearly a very attractive woman - and let's face it these days that's half the battle for most female newsreaders. But I sometimes get the impression she's not the sharpest tool in the box. I'm not saying she's a bimbo - but I get the feeling she's not always 100% across every interview she's doing. I know they do a lot of interviews on lots of different topics - and it's not an easy job - but that's just the impression I get.

Totally know what you mean but if you ask me she's 10 times better than Anita McVeigh. Does anyone know if Anita is returning after maternity leave (to the channel i mean) cos she was only originally there to cover for Joanna (covering for Emily) and producers probably thought it easier to keep her on than find someone else. But now that someone better is on, will they be more enclined to ditch her like they have in the past.

One example I'll give is Mishal Husain, seconded to Breakfast from World to cover maternity leave, kept on afterwards but when she herself went on maternity leave they moved her back to World. Could the same happen to Anita only reporting rather than presenting on world?

Mr. Dagwell can never resist making a little comment about himself, at the end of E24 can he. Laughing
