Mishal Husain is to present Newsnight on Friday 18th February

I hope they don't do that fly-in intro for her - she's awfully small, her feet don't touch the floor on the Six! Nevertheless, that'll be good - tbh, I think it would be good to just have rotating presenters on Thursdays and Fridays - there's never more than 2 weeks of 'correct' presenters anyway.

As for Kate Silverton on GMT, not my cup of tea!!! I knew it wouldn't be good when she said "news and opinion" akwardly. If you can watch it on iPlayer, when she was plugging the GMT website - did she need the toilet or was her phone on vibrate because she seemed really trembly?

I would have liked to have seen her do a whole programme - she only did about 10 minutes today on BBC two as George anchored the rest. She seems to get tongue tied really easily...I remember one evening she took three attempts to say goodbye on the six.

What is the "correct" rota for Newsnight anyway? The most usual arrangement is Jeremy on Mon - Wed, Kirsty on Thurs, Gavin on Fri, but it's hardly regular given the amount of time Jeremy has off!

Look forward to seeing Mishal on Newsnight.

Yes, that is the "correct" rota, and Emily pops up about 3 times every 3 weeks, but never once a week, always two Paxmans and one Esler shift for example. Kate Silverton was definitely better on today's GMT than yesterday's - I'm sure she'll get used to it as time goes on - she even did George's "stay well" catchphrase. Loads of BBC Newsreaders have their own catchphrases I think!

Generally only when Paxman is off.

Fiona Armstrong on right now with Ben Brown doing 7-10, haven't seen this particular over-50 present for a while!

Just watching World News Today with Zeinab Badawi, and Mishal Husain has just popped up in Cairo - didn't think she'd move considering the Royal Wedding arrangement! I think George Alagiah's swapped with her?!

Poor Sophie Raworth.

She had a very hard hole in her tights (right knee) on the opening shot on tonight's Six. Make sure to watch back on iplayer later.

There's been odder choices like Celina Hinchcliffe and Maryam Moshiri - at least Sophie Long does get some national appearances at weekends.

I know Luisa Baldini did some too - whatever happened to her? (not that I miss her presenting, she was god awful!)
