Did he give any reasons for his stint in Cardiff? Very pleased to see Chris back, but it's reminded me how much Martine Croxall (finally) deserves a permanent daytime slot.

I remember watching Peter Woods for many years presenting on BBC News, back in the day. Peter was my favourite newsreader back then. Not sure why, but he commanded the audience well.

Quite liked Justin too, for that matter.

Yes, I completely agree, she's better solo though, so I think she should perhaps get a weekend/Friday evening (cough cough) shift. Also, she actually seems to read the papers BEFORE 10.25, so I'm sure she'd want one too!

Yes, quite.

Martine has been on World overnights for the last two nights. After watching, I just realised how good she actually is, although I can't still get my head around the way she announces the name "Croxall" in the Walford manner at the intro to each bulletin.

Indeed, on the NC her catchphrase has to be "I'm Martine Croxall, a summary of the news now..."

Just to say, Huw's on Today At Five, and is being quite lively, which is always good and Matt Taylor's joined him to do the weather and he is literally 2ft tall - he's standing as far away from the back panel Barco as you could get!!!

Oh, I dunno. BBC World News have just trailed something or other which confirms that BBC World's coverage of the run-up to the Royal Wedding will commence on 19th January 2011!!!!!! Blimey. That's only a thousand weeks before the wedding itself.

By the look of things, Mishal Husain will be BBC World's "face" of the wedding coverage and preps.

Good choice.
