BBC News: Presenters & Rotas

Kate Silverton will be presenting GMT from BBC World News according to the (currently) 5th tweet down. I think it's brilliant news, although I'm not too sure if she's the face international viewers want, but she'll go well with the pink and purple titles. Where are George/Stephen going then? Louise Minchin back on the News At One?

Is it even true or not, I'm sure she wouldn't make it up! Good luck to her!

Well, I thought it was a bit odd too, I thought one of the existing World presenters would get a promotion, but that's the way it seems - maybe it's being timed with JC's departure, or she's been made a relief presenter? I think she'd be alright though?!

She's alright, but she's hardly a weath of business knowledge or an experienced journalist is she? There are plenty of much better presenters than her.

True, sometime I think she just wants to put her face out there - she's been on every panel quiz show, reality competition and I think the BBC is being a bit over-BBC-y by shoving her on. But George and Stephen are two really big BBC News faces! I dunno "woah"!!!

She'll maybe still keep the one on Monday's . During the last couple of months she has only been doing Monday's with Jon and Simon covering when Sophie hasn't been there.

She's also not really had a place during the week apart from Monday's (and Sunday's on radio) since she came off of breakfast.

And I wonder what is happening to George?

Good for her, also nice for BBCW viewers to get a new face.

Business knowledge doesn't really matter for GMT, the business presenter takes care of that

Doesn't sound to me like "I'm the new GMT presenter" or "I start in the next few months", but rather it's on a short-term/ ad-hoc basis?

Hmmmphffff! Are you both being serious?

One would assume that Sophie will leave the One for the moment in the run up to the Wedding, and perhaps George will move to the Ten to cover for Huw?

Do you mean just now - why would they do that? Maybe the week before for rehearsals but no more than that.
