Nice to see Jon Sopel appears to have become a News at One regular. He doesn't usually present on Fridays, does he?

I wonder if it's because following his operation he can't sit there for three hours but half an hour is possible? I've no idea on this - just thinking out loud!

I suspect that too. When he's on the afternoon shift he seems to miss half an hour during the middle or the last hour, leaving his co-presenter alone, which must presumably be a result of his accident. Still nice, though.

Sue Thearle is doing the 1600-1900 shift today, and also look out for the 2200 TOTH today, after 5 mins the NC joins BBC One. Also, is Maxine Mawhinney stuck in Northern Ireland?

Maxine Mawhinney quite regularly takes about two months off at a time. She seems to have more time off than being there, especially so this year, for some reason. Whether because though this is because she's freelance, I don't know..

Confused I think of her as one of the best relief presenters they have.

No, I think Sue Thearle is quite good, certainly better than Annita McVeigh for example. And it seems as if Clive's on his own from 1900!

BBC1 is likely to be running late as well

Sue's not the best relief presenter they've got, but she's certainly not awful. Shame she seems to be used more as last-minute cover than anything planned, really.

Kasia Madera was also reporting earlier.

Clive Myrie doing the 2200 TOTH standing up near the wall, presumably whilst Joanna gets ready for her BBC1 bulletin Rolling Eyes

Interesting to see Clive presenting solo tonight, is this now a permanent arrangement at weekends?
