There's a brief mention in Ariel that Jonathan Charles is leaving the BBC in the new year, to become head of comms at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

They've got one bit wrong: He currently edits and presents the BBC World News European Breakfast programme, which is also broadcast on BBC1 in the United Kingdom," ...since when is it broadcast on BBC1?

As long as I can remember, BBC News/BBC World simulcasts on BBC One through the night until 6am. The programme they're referring to is at 5am UK time, unless I'm mistaken.

Woah, to answer your question, she does neither! She sits on a stool at the metal "Hub", (or occassionally stands up, but usually in close-crop, if so).

However, she has now moved away from the main desk towards the newswall. Peter Dobbie is always stood up for the programme, unless he has to interview a guest at the Hub, in which case he sits down.

Trivia.........................LOL.

Sad to learn that Jonathan Charles is leaving. His pink shirts will be sorely missed. That said, I noticed tonight that David Eades and Aaron Biznewshurst have adopted pink shirts and red ties!!

Crafty move today at BBC World, moving David Eades to a later slot to coincide with the World Cup presentations at FIFA. David is somewhat of a good anchor to have on Sports related big stories.

Tim Willcox on The Hub again tonight, and a tie-less Peter Dobbie doing WHYS!!

Edit: just catching up on Twitter, and it appears that Mishal Husain is seconded to BBC World Service Radio for a week, operating out of Bush House. (She is stated as "a week of shadowing"). So, who is doing Impact this week?

Also, Twitter related, has Philippa Thomas left the BBC temporarily? There is a tweeted suggestion that she is at Harvard??

I think she is doing what James Reynolds did last year, and doing a year at an American university. I assume she'll be back next year.

Ben Brown on the late shift tonight Shocked

I presume because of the snow he and Chris swapped shifts?

It appears so. Perhaps Ben got stuck in the bad weather and was going to be late, so Chris stepped in instead. It's also not unheard of for Ben to present that shift, he has on at least a handful of occasions over the last two years.
