James Landale presenting the Politics Show next Sunday.

Doesn't surprise me at all - neither did Laura. The other presenter I'd like to see present would be Anita Anand, who might bring something different to it.

I really don't like her presenting style - she seems to try and make herself seem stern and authoritive, and she piles it on far too much to the point where she sounds like she looks and sounds angry, and shakes her head about at every word she says, and it looks really strange. She was exactly the same on Newsnight.

I'm guessing you're referring to Laura Kuenssberg? I know what you mean, but there are by far some worse presenters. Anita on the other hand I'd like to see on The Politics Show as she seems to have a calmer, smoother and slower delivery style - similar to Daily Politics colleague Andrew Neil - which might be a refreshing change compared to Sopel, Kuenssberg and Coburn (not that I have a problem with either three, by the way Wink )

I was, yes Wink

Laura Kuenssberg is sitting in for Kate on 5 live this coming Sunday.

While that may be true, relief presenters do have shift limitations. It is pretty much a rarity to see anyone but Chris Eakin, Tim Wilcox or one of the overnight presenters (like Martine Croxall or Juliet Dunlop) on the 10:30 to 00:30 shift, for example. Sophie Long, Ellie Crisell and Rachel Schofield - while relief presenters - don't seem to work that shift.

Equally, someone like Rachel Schofield only seems to work three day weeks, you rarely see Julian Worricker covering for Simon McCoy and Martine Croxall seems to predominantly cover for weekend presenters such as Ms Long.

I've seen Mrs Jeremy Vine cover the 4-7 shift on a Saturday for Ms Long before, I've never seen Ellie Crisell do any shifts outside Tuesday-Thursday before, even then she's only limited to doing either 11-2 or 2-5, although she did do a couple of 7-10's last week (though disappeared to do her BBC1 90 second update around 8pm), I think I've also seen Kasia Madera and even Babita Sharma doing the 10:30 to 00:30 shift before.

I imagine the only relief presenter that is flexible to do any shift at all on any day whatsoever at any time whatsoever and on any channel whatsoever is BBC Tim (no surprise there!)

I'm not saying they don't ever cover non-standard or unusual shifts, simply that they do seem to prefer certain presenters at certain times.

And the only time I've seen Babita or Kasia cover the 10:30 to 00:30 slot are when they've been on overnights around that time - James Dagwell, Kasia Madera and Juliet Dunlop all cover for the overnight team (Naga, Alistair and Martine) but aren't regulars.

Have to admit I'm enjoying Katty Kay presenting alongside Matt Frei tonight - they don't make a bad team.

Nice to see Emma Crosby on with Julian this afternoon.

By the way, can someone tell Naga to stop wearing short cocktail dresses to read the news? It's very distracting indeed, short skirt and very low neckline.

On a lighter, completely trivial note, does anyone know if any of the BBC newsreaders are doing an act for Children in Need this year?

I believe they are. Who exactly is, I don't know.

Didn't the weather people used to do something for CIN in the past?

How come they no longer do anything?

According to Kate's twitter it is her, Fiona and Susanna. Sian is not doing it...not sure about Sophie.

I seem to recall last time it was meant to be Kate, Sophie, Fiona, Susanna and Sian but Sian dropped out? And similarly the time before Susanna did it at last minute covering for Kate?

What about male performers? Think last year it was Bill Turnbull, Charlie Stayt, Nick Owen and Ben Brown unless I'm mistaken, and the year before it was Chris Hollins, Nick Owen and Ben Brown
