So we've got a GMTV thicko on BBC News now. Great.

So any qualified, experienced journalist who leaves a leading broadcaster to join GMTV becomes a "thicko"? What a pathetic attitude.

How the hell did I know that she was a qualified, experienced journalist*? I said I'd never heard of her, someone told me she was an ex GMTV presenter, I've no idea what she did before.

*not exactly sure how true this is - how qualified and experienced is she? Experienced to me means over 20 years experience. As she looks about 30 I can't imagine she qualifies.

Emma had left a News channel after a few years work, and then presenting Business Bulletins, to then jump over to a more relaxed style of presenting took her time to adjust, even though GMTV in early 2009 was trying to be more newsy so, I think there were mixed expectations. Emma I think did well with GMTV and got one with everyone.

On BBC News where she has worked before (as we said 10years+ ago) may be more of her thing, I may be wrong.

Yes I think Emma will miss the Sky handing over to another presenter further away from her, she used to do that with Sky and GMTV, they either sit next to her now or on the screen, of course Sports updates but that's not far compared to Sky Studio is it.

You had no idea what she did before but you still judged her based on GMTV.

20 years?! That would make most of the high profile network newsreaders currently on our screens inexperienced!

As qualified and experienced as many of today's newsreaders are - my point was she wasn't primarily a television presenter or "celebrity".

I was commenting on your assumption that because you knew nothing about this woman other than her work at GMTV she could fairly be branded a "GMTV thicko" and suggest BBC News had somehow faltered since she began presenting.

It would appear so, yes.

When did Emma Crosby join? I saw her tonight. The BBC News Channel doesn't have the wow factor of the Sky News set but she's settling in nicely.

Tonight is her first shift I think. Next month she will be doing some shifts on CNN

She's got a lot of experience for her age, more than a decade in business and all the time on big networks. I really liked her on Sky before she was demoted and wasted on short business updates. Rolling Eyes

Is she freelance? I didn't realise that. It's a shame she isn't on Sky anymore, she was very good.
