I'd say so. Looks like 2pm is, too. It'd be silly not to.
Was that 1pm hour simulcast on BBC World? Strange hand over to the weather,

... with due apologies to those uptight about talking presentation in a personnel thread!

Tim did great, I really enjoyed those 40 minutes or so of just him walking around the place, interviewing people, officials, jumping in interviews and press conferences and giving us a tour of media village. He's a very capable reporter and today he got a chance to show it.
I guess he'll get an even better chance next few days.
BBC beats CNN coverage by miles so far, CNN didn't even get a proper camera there.

If I remember correctly Nick covered Baghdad for a few weeks during the summers of 2008 and 09, but not (I believe) this year, so perhaps he's covering for someone in Kabul having a few weeks off? He was certainly on a day or so ago talking about matters completely unrelated to the royals.
Ian Pannell has just left as Kabul Correspondent so Nick is filling in I'd presume.

Nick Witchell in Kabul this morning. Is there a royal visit due?

He presented the weekend evening slot with Annita McVeigh a few weeks ago, and I believe this weekend too
Anyone know how often Chris Rodgers has presented on the News Channel? Not seen him before.

He's presented quite a few weekends recently, in particular on Sundays. Clive regularly presents on weekday evenings, so Chris seems to be the main relief for him. Don't rate him particularly - seems quite dull with very little interaction, and gives time checks a lot at random times.

Well he presented Newsround 24 on BBC News 24 in 1997... (When News 24 launched there was a weekly Newsround show broadcast live from the soft area on the News 24 set - and Chris was one of the main presenters)

The time-check thing is something some presenters do to punctuate or gear change between lighter and darker stories. Can become a bit of a crutch.

And some do it with great effect, but Chris seems to do it when it isn't called for. He also reminds us we're watching BBC News a lot, including "these are our BBC News headlines". Still, a more than competent presenter.

Chris Rodgers presenting right now on the BBC News Channel on his own.
I believe this is his first solo shift?
