Pooneh Ghodoosi (main anchoring) and Martine Croxall (newscasting) on The Hub tonight. Very rare pairing. No sign of Tim today, nor Nik Gowing, nor Peter Dobbie for that matter.
It was also a very long day for David Eades.
Tim Willcox has turned up today, at the Chilean Mine
Ok, Ok. Before anyone else makes a wise crack! I will be the first to say it.................
..........as if the poor Chilean miners didn't already go through enough trauma and hardship having been trapped underground for several months, now the first thing they will see when the get out is Tim Willcox, whom many of them were probably glad to escape in the first place**.............
Only joking! I am glad the BBC has eventually sent someone of relative seniority to the scene. This is gonna be one helluva big, live story when they start pulling the miners out. I can't wait to see it actually. Those poor guys deserve some good coverage. I am sure it will be covered live by all the outlets.
(** could have been worse. It could have been a certain lady from Sky News standing there to greet them....)
I say all of the above in jest, so please don't start ranting, chaps.
I think Tim Wilcox is doing very well out there - when you see the likes of Tim Wilcox and Sophie Long reporting or broadcasting on location you realise how wasted they are sat behind a desk reading an autocue. Not that that's easy, of course, and they're both very good at it.
I've also been very impressed with Razia Iqbal and Roger Johnson, both of whom seem to have acostomed themselves to rolling news despite little national exposure presenting.
I fully agree. Jokes aside, Tim has always impressed me on location. In fact, I think he is a damn good news presenter too. Just that he seems to always be on..........................
He was formidable during the UK General Election back in May, anchoring from Westminster.
Edit: Peter Dobbie now back from leave and on The Hub in place of Nik Gowing. Where is Nik???

Agreed - Sophie did the Battle of Britain coverage and was excellent!
I don't know maybe it was a different camera set up/angle or darker, I don't think there was a recap of National Headlines at the end which I normally catch when watching.
not sure and then made it more weird by her being the first headline in Local News.
Odd graphics bug at 6:50 in that Look East report, a white bar appears at the bottom, and an "e" floats across the middle of the screen...
(Although we are in the wrong place) If you kept on watching did you notice they were trying to put a banner out for getting in contact about the story. (Random 'e' still remained)
