I have to say, it's a bit too much. A bit of banter is great but it's like they've downed a bottle of warm chardonnay before coming on set. They're joking on nearly every link which is 1/ irritating (this is a news channel after all) and 2 / really rather inappropriate because they have to change gear massively to deliver some news about dead people.
It feels to me they don't really want to be reading the news on this "little channel"... the impression they give to this rare afternoon viewer is that it's far too low for them which is why they're not taking anything seriously.
Tend reluctantly to agree, there was a running 'gag' also this morning between Simon McCoy, Rachel Schofield and Chris Fawkes; I suspect 'Newswatch' will be making mutterings soon if it's not calmed down.
Kittenish is not good for news. Not good at all. The chardonnnay must have been a cheap one from Tesco Express, or whatever it's called these days.
Does anyone have any idea as to when Tanya Beckett is coming back to WNTBE? Poor Jamie Robertson looks as though he is longing to get away from anything remotely non-biz! The man likes his numbers and currencies, but throw Pakistani floods or Israeli/Palestinian talks at him during a live bulletin, and he positively squirms behind that eliptical illumination they all sit at.
Good Heavens! Bill Turnbull sneaking onto BBC World's "The Hub" this evening, albeit conducting an interview remotely somewhere. Still, nice to see you, old bean!

Huw Edwards anchored the main programme. James Naughtie was the commentator for television coverage. Kaye Adams was reporting from (I think) the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, and Emily Buchanan carried out quite a number of interviews as well.
