I agree about Nicholas Owen, I don't watch the BBC news as often as I do Channel 4 and ITV, but I like him a lot better than George Alagiah (maybe because he is ex-ITN!).

I watch BBC considerably more but I think Nick is more down to earth and doesn't focus all of his attention on saying THE BBC NEWS AT SIX.

Indeed, George is just ghastly. Go away George.

Here's an idea . . . axe George and Kate

Get Louise (when not doing other projects) and Nick on!

Also, who finds it much easier to watch Dani Sinha on South Today than Sally Taylor?

Have you ever watched TV before? Her voice is extremely annoying and grates on my ears. She will never be Sally Taylor!

She may not be the best but I find Sally Taylor so much worse, maybe just my opinion.

Sally is a legend in the south - presenting South Today for 20 years. Her MBE proves her hard work to regional broadcasting in the south.

He may well be permenant since Sue Thearle won't be doing any more sports presenting. Incidentally unusual for her to give up her sports job to relief present, as usually occasional relief presenters, like Jo Coburn, Claire Marshal, Adam Parsons etc., combine two roles - possibly this means Sue will be appearing fairly regularly from now on.

Ok, but I just don't like her presentation style compared to Meridian's Fred/Debbie for example. However in the North East where I spend some time the BBC and Carol Malia are far superior to Tyne Tees, just shows that regions vary.

On a different note, Andy Tighe reporting for NC all day from the airline bomb plot trial.

However, on the one they had Daniel Sandford there and no doubt he'll be there this evening.

Seems a waste of resources both being there do they not think Andy is capable of doing the nationals.

For years though it was the other way round - that was when everyone's friend Mike Neville was around sadly due to illness he was forced into retirement. Such a shame what has happened to Tyne Tees but hey thats the story in most, if not all ITV Regions these days!

To follow the case properly, surely requires more than one correspondent as one would need to be in court while the other is filing reports. Are they also filing for radio outlets?
