Stephen Watson from BBC Northern Ireland reading the News Channel's sport tonight, following a lot of appearances recently from Richard Askam. It does seem like a lot of the old regular presenters (Sean Fletcher, Francis Collings) aren't really appearing any more, and a lot of random presenters cropping up instead.

Sean Fletcher was reporting live for BBC Breakfast this morning, covering the demise of High Street shops. Is he now part of the reporting team for Breakfast?

A word for Lizo Mzimba who I think after taking time, came of age this afternoon with his restrained and thoughtful coverage as reporter of the Alexander McQueen death.

Bit of a random question folks, but what happened to the news presenter Gillian Ni Cheallaigh, who IIRC used to anchor on News 24? Is she still around?

Agreed. He was outstanding, which is more than I can say for Tasmin who later displayed her usual crap.

Fiona Foster is joining BBC World next week. She has just appeared in a trail for the "FastTrack" travelogue.

It will be interesting to see Fiona back on the BBC after all these years! I don't think she's been with the BBC, since leaving Business Breakfast/Breakfast News in 1992 for London Tonight.

Which is usually a little too much make up, she really needs to tone that down - she's presenting news - not on a catwalk.

I think make-up is the least of her problems to be honest - she's just not a good and/or credible newsreader, journalist or even presenter.

I've noticed that the BBC currently seems to have two defence correspondents, with Caroline Wyatt and Jonathan Beale both apppearing on bulletins under the title this week. Is it temporary and linked to the current operation in Afghanistan or security correspondent Frank Gardner being abroad so unable to cover stories from Britain? It would seem a bit odd to have two permanent defence correspondents when it was suggested in a story a while back that they would have to make cuts in correspondents.

Oh, what amazing news! I love Fiona Foster! Brilliant to have her back.

She did a few stints on Holiday after Business Breakfast, but nothing for News I don't think.

Earlier today a caption I saw said Jonathan Beale was World Affairs Correspondent Confused

He's titled as Defence correspondent on a few stories online (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8510404.stm) and was introduced as such on Breakfast this morning and a couple of times during the week - maybe he is just going to be a general World Affairs correspondent though?
