I am rather surprised to see Geoff Clark presenting this evening. Is this a first?

Is that the fellow who looks like Henry VIII?

Indeed that's our Geoff, former main anchor of South East Today.

No, he did the evening shift a few months ago on the News Channel - can't recall whether it was during a weekday or a weekend, but he has been on before!

he did a couple of weekends just before Clive started - with Annita.

That's because her pregnancy only lasted 4 months, she knew she had to get back on the telly asap otherwise the fantasy rotas of so many would be ruined.

An early nomination for post of the year (comedy section).

Nah, it'll get a mention on that thread 'at the other place' at least!

On the subject of Geoff Clark, does he have a regular day job these days?

I find it surprising to see Frank Gardner reporting from a Military Camp in Afghanistan this morning. It must have been a difficult editorial decision to proceed, weighing up the added difficulties associated with his condition.

I think it's great that he's out there. Having previously been primarily a reporter on location, it must have been difficult to move into a mainly office-based job after his attack. I would imagine he must be pleased to be back doing what he does best. I think it also sends out a very positive message about people with disabilities.

As somebody said in the presentation thread Julia Somerville will be presenting BBC News on Monday 2-5 with Nicholas Owen

Julia's looking really good for her age! She must use some pretty brilliant anti-ageing cream, don't you think? Same for Nick, for that matter...

Stephen Watson from BBC Northern Ireland reading the News Channel's sport tonight, following a lot of appearances recently from Richard Askam. It does seem like a lot of the old regular presenters (Sean Fletcher, Francis Collings) aren't really appearing any more, and a lot of random presenters cropping up instead.
