There's a rule on news presenters appearing on adverts isn't there (I assume it's radio too)? Therefore, she'll have to stop doing those tax ones.

I think she only did them once during 2008 did she not?

I saw a few of these ads last year as well, and if I'm not wrong there's also a new one doing the rounds this month (although I'm not sure if it's a rehashed version of the first one than a newly-filmed ad).

A bit of a shortage on presenters today? Newsround's Sonali doing the business and an unknown (to me) doing the sport now on News Channel.

And Kate doing the 3pm summary, saying she'd be back at 6. Will that be her first time presenting The Six?

She presented once during last year - it was in May/June maybe. It will be interesting to see who does the news at 10pm as Sophie was down to do it but she doesn't appear to be doing the news at 6. They must all be snowed in!

According to MG Sophie will be presenting the special at 8pm.

Yes, I saw one the other day.

I'd assume if they had problems or were desperate - one of the duty news channel presenters would do it if it were necessary. I notice Chris Eakin is on earlier than normal with Joanna Gosling this evening. I remember Chris being moved to a day slot when the snow fell last year (was nice to see him presenting with Jane Hill again).

He's reporting on the snow during the 8pm special

EDIT - Ben Brown now on with Joanna

No one's noted Kate getting the time wrong during the Six, thinking she was presenting the One!

I'm sure she made a similar flub during the One O'Clock News as well - can't be sure of what she exactly said as I had the bulletin on in the background.

BBC: No conflict of interest between Moira Stuart's tax ads and Radio 2 role

An unusual outbreak of common sense.

An advert saying "pay your tax" is almost a paid for Public Information Film rather than an advert flogging a product which people have any choice about buying.

Surely some entrepreneur could come up with a corporate wooly hat with BBC News logo to send out to reporters in this inclement weather. Getting fed up with shots of freezing presentation.

Is there such a thing as a BBC branded jacket?

(Remembering some moaning somewhere about 'North Face' jackets appearing on screen regulary!)
