Do we know who's doing the hogmany shift on the NC and in World yet?

Well so far today I've seen Julian Worricker, who also said Jane Hill would be on from 12. Not sure about anyone else yet.

Do you mean 4pm on the news channel? - When I watched at 17:20 it was Mishal Husain doing the bulletin on BBC 1

If they must have 'recognisable faces' for BBC One viewers, why don't they rota specific presenters shifts on the NC.

Seems daft taking the NC presenter off for just 10 mins, just to put a BBC One face on!

Another thing that's daft, is when the BBC One bulletin is for example on a Saturday between 1010pm & 1025pm, why don't they rota that presenter to start on the NC at 1000pm & run through to the bottom half hour, with the BBC One opt in & outs included(A specific choice of words to be used!), do the NC weather, while there's a changeover?

If the bulletin is say 1020pm to 1040pm, then rota that presenter for the full 10pm to 11pm hour.

If the shorter weekend/bank holiday bulletins don't require the Ten level of preparation, then why not do the above, instead of us viewers playing 'Spot when the simulcast is coming up', when the NC presenter goes to stand up at the side of the studio, while the BBC One newsreader moves in?

If anyone's interested, BBC World's duty newscasters for Christmas Day were Jonathan Charles, Lucy Hockings, Nik Gowing and James Dagwell in that order (not sure who - if anyone - did the shift between Gowing and Dagwell).

Owen Thomas back as normal today, being a Saturday.

Nik Gowing has appeared on BBC World on Christmas Day for as long as I can remember.

I think Peter Dobbie did the evening shift (between Gowing and Dagwell) last few days.

Interesting how Sophie Raworth hasn't stayed on to do the late news as per scheduled. Clive Myrie makes his BBC One debut on Boxing Day.

What time did Clive take over Jullian this evening?

I thought Sophie would stay on. Interesting that this year they used the news channel presenter to cover lunchtime bulletin - last year someone covered all the bulletins - lunchitme, evening and late.

If a set presenter for the bulletins has to be used - the above does make the most sense.

Also, why they have to hide the fact that the presenter is standing by the wall is silly. They could easily make use of the Barco screens and project the main stories on to the screens, as they do with the sport. I remember seeing Anita interviewing someone, who was in the Westmister studios and they just split the picture with the graphics... why not project them on the Barcos? It's not as if anyone is going to have a heart attack if a bit of stand up headlines presentation is done!

I really don't understand the point of a separate presenter doing the weekend evening bulletins normally. During the day the Duty News channel presenter does the BBC One bulletins. I've had it explained to me why they do it but for saving money and continuing to keep the channel consistent, the on air presenter on the news channel should do the bulletin.

BBC One should opt in to the news channel for the update... not the other way round really.

When all the new studios happen in a few years will the BBC1 Weekend Bulletins be from a separate studio

IMO, with them having odd start times if/when that happens they shouldn't be shown on the news channel as well, unless they start on the hour. It gets rather messy on the news channel when there is a network bulletin at say 10 or 15 minutes past the hour

I can't see the current arrangment changing, unless BBC 1 Weekend Bulletins and BBC London were to share production staff - otherwise it will require an entire production team (and the cost) to run a separate studio - which I believe is what they wanted to remove by implementing the system we have now. Largely however it is only the evening and late Saturday bulletins that still move about. The Saturday lunchtime bulletin is largely at midday, with the Sunday bulletins at 6 pm and 10/10.30 pm. The other bulletins (Sunday 9 am and midday are embedded into programmes for the majority of the year).
