Again, I surprised to see Huw and Ellie disappeared after Monday and Nicholas and Celina are covering. I would have thought Huw would present to get time of christmas, he is only down for Sunday but no one is down for Boxing Day or Christmas Day so maybe Huw will peek in at some point.

Nobody has to work more in order to get Christmas off. These rotas are worked out weeks, often months, in advance. Short of unforeseen circumstances arising, the BBC will know exactly who is supposed to be presenting when. Huw might only be contracted to present so many days or he might have opted to take annual leave.
