Oh dear... Sissons back on BBC One - :=(

What are you talking about? He's probably one of the best news presenters the BBC has got for "proper" bulletins on BBC One. Good to see him back on the network news!!

Yeah it is god to see Mr Sissons on BBC One - where he belongs Wink

Just because he's good, doesn't make him a deity.

Yes, very good, but why do you think it?

Actually, in the interests of giving the bulletins a true identity, it would be a great idea if Peter Sissons became the weekend newscaster on BBC1 bulletins (3 on Saturday / 4 on Sunday).

As it currently stands, the weekend bulletins are definitely the mongrel amongst the otherwise thoroughbred weekday bulletins, which tend (mainly) to have a consistent anchor(s).

The weekends, as correctly pointed out by so many of you above, are a bit of a hit and miss, and you never know just who is going to appear.

Call me a traditionalist.................

In fact (climbs back up onto soapbox), why isn't Sissons on the Ten????? He is far better suited to a structured bulletin (Ten) as opposed to the rambling rolling rambling News Channel.

I could see it working for the evening bulletins, however I think for the lunchtime Saturday bulletin and moreso the Sunday morning and lunchtime bulletins it would be slightly pointless. They are rather short, and generally presented by the same presenter. Maxine, Susanna and Tim.

Sundays lately are usually Mishal Hussein 3 weekends in 4, its aturdays that are varied.

To be honest i prefer the current set up as when the weekends were just Darren Jordon it was rather dull.

Or if they had given Moira Stuart the role of weekend newsreader properly rather than in name only

Yea...that would have been the best option! Smile It did seem strange that they obviously had told her that she would be presenting the bulletins on Saturdays before she left Breakfast in April 2006 as she mentioned it during her farewell chat. She didn't actually present a set of Saturday bulletins until the start of October (6 months later) where, obviously, she was only on screen for about 2 1/2 months more.

They should've kept her for weekends - or even occasionak cover for a weekday bulletin (The 1, 6 and 10 don;t really need many journalistic credentials and she was more that capable - I'd rather see her than George any day!! Smile )
