Annita McVeigh is on duty tonight from 2000hrs.

Interesting to see Annita on a late.

Feel all nostalgic really. When I first got interested in News presentation she was the weekend late presenter with Chris Lowe!

And then she did the late shift solo from 6:30-9pm on weekdays when BBC News moved to NBH in 2013 & Julian Worricker did Fridays if I can remember correctly

Kasia Madera did the late shift on BBC World on Christmas Day, for those wishing to update their records.

Any other presenters who have flown in from elsewhere to cover this funny Christmas/New Years period?

No, only Sharanjit thus far, although I think she’s already gone back to Singapore.

There's some technical problem on the News Channel, as they are in "Recorded" mode repeating the 11pm hour with Lukwesa. Maybe someone forgot to come in or no-one was booked to cover midnight until 1am for World News Today (didn't Mike Embley start an hour earlier than usual earlier in the week?). It would normally be Newsday for a Monday morning but I suspect BBC News is on 'weekend' schedule today.

Slight change of plan for the late BBC1 Bulletin this evening-Since the Late Bulletin is all of 5 minutes, they are letting Martine do it (instead of Huw who was on earlier.)

This must be one of the shortest evening news bulletins ever on BBC One - even shorter than Christmas Day's - any indications why they've gone so short?

Perhaps it's that there's just not much in the way of news today!

Scheduling.
They’ve squeezed in Mrs Brown, which is very late for a work night, and they’ve also got MOTD on a massive day for the premier league, which they’d probably not want to delay any more than they already are doing

They should really have had the news at 10:30 with MOTD at 10:45 and shown Mrs Brown on a different night

Mrs Brown is contracted for Christmas Day and New Year's Day specials for the BBC, so they have to air it New Year's Day - this will come to an end this year, as 2020 marks the conclusion of Brendan O'Carroll's contract deal with the BBC for the specials.

I seriously doubt the contract is that strict.
Steve Williams, Joe and Brekkie gave kudos
