Some may have suspected it before, but the secret is now finally out as I have been continuing the updating of the BBC News Fix website. The website has faithfully recorded the news presenters for over ten years.
As currently stands, it will be frozen and come to an end at the end of the year. The information currently there will remain but it will end at the end of 31 December 2019.
I have effectively been the sole person updating the site for the last 18 months, by which time all the original editors had quit. They had been involved with the site for far longer than me and my thanks go out to them. They are welcome to come back to updating if they wish and it's possible, depending on my situation, I could return and fill in. However, my plans elsewhere now mean I won't be able to update consistently next year so I will therefore stop entirely unless anyone wishes to continue in my absence.
I have always been interested in 'obscure information' like who has presented BBC News. It turned out people had been updating these details in the background silently around me until I stumbled across the site a few years ago and found it had recorded all the information I wanted to know! However, times change, things move on and so therefore must I. My situation will be changing next year and I am no longer able to update the site. Therefore, unless anyone else wishes to take on this on - and I suggest at least two people and preferably three or four - BBC News Fix will end and will cover the decade of the 2010s.
So, if it ends, it ends with notice and not unexpectedly like I think that hits chart website did several years ago.
As stands, we'll have to wonder who presented from 2020 onwards. Thank you to everyone for viewing and so long for now!

Regularly check the site in curiosity, sad to hear it's ending but understand it's time consuming

Actually not as time-consuming as you might think, at least not for me. It's become part of my life, I'm here with the news on throughout the day and update it when presenters change. Or else work up to 2 hours behind on catch-up or update halfway through the day, as may have been seen, from my memory of whose been on.
(Actually checking back when I've missed it live is the time, but watching live is fine - some news presenters are the only ones on for several hours, especially at weekends, so it can be doing a quick update at the start of the programme and then the updating is done unless someone else new appears or the next programme. Or I can watch behind by 2 hours and just keep it on the same.)
I may be getting help with days I can't manage next year, so it may be continuing after all. If anyone wants to step into the breach, the more offers I get the less time it will be for everyone...
So has Nicholas Owen now officially retired? His last on air appearance was when he made his one and only showing on Afternoon Live over a year ago. It's a shame if he has left with no on air send off or even a mention but his appearances did become more and more infrequent towards the end, and at the age of 72, he definitely deserves a nice retirement.

He is/was a great presenter and it was always good to see him on the channel, but i always took his on-air time in the last 5 years as more of a "he’s only asked to present if there is absolutely nobody else available" due to the very disparate times he was presenting. In the last year, a lot more presenters have come on board to present the NC output, eg Geeta, Ben Bland, Jane Hill has returned, so there is the case to be made that he probably won’t show up again, due to the number of relief presenters available.

Just saw twitter, Laura Kuenssberg, people are posting this article from The Express which criticizes her for saying on Brexitcast. She apparently said:
Quote:
"From a historical point of view, I think when people look back at this period and they examine the extent of the Labour defeat.
"I think people will look back and think, 'hang on - people voted for something in 2016 and then lots of people in the political establishment in Westminster spent three years trying to undo that. What?'
"People thought we would be out the next day. Politicians on both sides, including the then-Prime Minister David Cameron stood on platforms and said if you vote this way, it will happen.
"They said there was no going back, and that this wasn't a vote that you can have a second opinion on."
Adding:
Quote:
"Lo and behold, three years later people are scratching their heads in the Labour Party, thinking maybe that was a bit of problem that they were trying to undo something that people voted for.
"There are perfectly legitimate reasons for people to campaign for a second referendum."
"But, covering it as a story, to me it just seemed like, people voted for that.
"It’s not your job to undo it!"
Now this is one tabloid and people seem to be pissed about it on Twitter.
