Din’t think this counts as a notable event, but Elizabeth Rizzini from the BBC London weather team is doing a weather bulletin for the domestic news channel for what must be her first time? Good to see new weather presenters for the channel
She's done that slot before, don't think she's done any other time on the news channel though
She's still on now doing the 11:29 forecast.
Yeah, part of the same shift normally done by Simon King.

I think she also did the afternoon shift one day during the summer. London regional hub presenters do help out occasionally, including Lucy Martin.
Seeing Julia Somerville over on the BBC News thread reminded me of the short-lived “over 50’s” campaign, which I believe was instigated following the departure of Moira from television news bulletins and the various (right or wrong) ageist allegations surrounding it.
Julia Somerville, Fiona Armstrong and Carole Walker were publicly announced as a host of “older faces” to appear on BBC News to redress the balance. (Zeinab Badawi was the other, but she never actually appeared on the Channel).
Has this practice been all but forgotten now? Perhaps the equal pay row has taken greater precedence these days.

To be fair there is now several women in the age bracket who appear regularly so there is nothing to complain about.

Yes, the over 50s phase was now almost a decade ago (!). The BBC News female presenter line up hasn't really changed much in that time (compared to the decade before) and most of the female faces on screen in 2009/10 and who are still on screen now are over 50, or close to 50. I can only think of Tina Daheley and Victoria Fritz who are 'younger'.

I think Zeinab appeared on the News Channel about 3 times in 2010, and may have done the Five once. What a waste.

Zeinab presented BBC World News Today three days a week at the time it was only broadcast on BBC Four
Sameer Hashmi is transferring from BBC World Mumbai to BBC World Dubai to take up the role of BBC Middle East Business Correspondent, a role previously held by Katy Watson and Ben Thompson in byegone days.
