That's the third long serving BBC presenter I've heard of who's retired in the last couple of weeks. Midlands Today's political correspondent left theoth other day. I wonder if its to do with the current redundancy trawl

Just been hinted that Christian won’t be leading US election night saying “your presenting it” to Katty

Isn't it already confirmed that Huw Edwards will be anchoring from London and Katty Kay in Washington?

I'm guessing it'll be a BBC World News / BBC NC / BBC 1 simulcast as well?

I can't find anything official on the BBC Media centre website about it but I can't imagine anyone other than Huw Edwards co-anchoring with Katty Kay, and for obvious reasons this year I doubt anyone will be flown out to Washington.

Interesting in the West they credit the regional anchor before the national one.

How are regions notified of information regarding programming etc (particularly news when reading presenters names)? Is it a central system or just by email?

According to a reply on Simon's earlier tweet from somebody at BBC Plymouth, an email that was ambiguously written.

Huw is the official election night presenter and chief presenter for lead presenter for major breaking news. Wouldn't surprise me if Huw did overnight and Christian & Philippa did the daytime.

Yes since 1992 according to Genome it has been simulcast in full, Breakfast didn't air, coverage switched to BBC 2 at 9am until 1pm with Clive

There's a web-based system called HUD which shows the automation schedules of playout, the regions use this and I think they'll all have it on a monitor in the gallery.

This has a message line at the bottom and this is usually used to give the name of the upcoming news presenter. I think the director will also mention it on talkback at the - 10 minute handover and junction*.

That is assuming they know I suppose, I imagine it used to be easier as they could see the news studio preparing to go on air beforehand, now it's always on air.
