Not quite sure why you’ve dismissed the possibility that someone might go back to their former employer. It has happened before and happens in many areas of life.
Maybe she’s unhappy with management at the BBC, maybe she can command a higher salary after raising her profile in her time at BBC, compared to what she had when she left. Yes, it might not be true but it’s certainly not beyond the realms of possibility.

It's the possibility that the bosses have told her to resign that people are dismissing out of hand. Whether or not Laura has chosen to leave the BBC for ITV, which I personally still believe to be unlikely albeit possible, it is extremely unlikely that the bosses will have asked her to leave because of her coverage not being impartial which is what the original tweets are trying to suggest.

Don’t disagree with any of that. It was the assertion somebody would go to an employer because they had previously worked there I took issue with, which GMc did make.

Sad news. I remember watching him often years ago on (West) Midlands Today.
Former broadcaster Steve lee has died

Remember him as a regular reporter for Final Score and Match of the Day.
Also (random trivia alert), a few weeks after the abandonment of the 1997 Grand National due to a bomb scare, there was a similar scare at Wembley on the day of the rugby league Cup final. So while Steve Rider was indisposed, it was Steve Lee who anchored Grandstand from the studio.

There is a photo of Steve with many of the Midlands Today presentation team from the late 1980s that bought back so many memories on the Birmingham Mail website.

So sorry to hear that he has gone.
