I was originally reluctant to post this as it is is likely to cause speculation - however Martine's tweets seem to suggest that her role as a presenter is currently, well, at risk or under review.

Ahaha I was apprehensive about mentioning it too.
But, I do hope Martine doesn’t go. She has to be one of, if not THE best, NC presenters the BBC has and it will be a great loss to BBC News if she goes. So much uncertainty with "the cuts" — I imagine (if she is to go) others may follow. Hmmm.

That was a very unexpected turn of events. She did well on many of the programmes she's broadcast for the last couple years since coming back from China Editor, plus all the programming and presenting she did prior to taking up the China Editor post, shame to see her go! All the best to her for the future whatever she chooses to do.

Wonder what this means to all other programmin she was doing, notably the morning shift, with more simulcasting will they just ask World News presenters to fill in shifts if needed?

Sadly, Carrie won’t be the only long-serving presenter/correspondent to be leaving the BBC in the coming months.

It is sad to see the direction the BBC is going towards. I still dearly miss double-headed presentation on the News Channel, and now it seems we could be loosing some extremely talented presenters.

Carrie’s departure isn’t unexpected, let’s hope the likes of Martine are retained otherwise we take to the streets, all ten of us!!

Seriously though - don’t be silly BBC.

I really hope Martine doesn’t leave. BBC News would never be the same without her presence Sad

If he goes, I shan’t ever watch the One O’Clock News nor Afternoon Live (should it return) again.

I wasn’t always the biggest fan of her, and maybe I was a little bit harsh on her in my posts on this forum, but I’m sorry for that and I absolutely wish her the best in her future endeavours.

It's going to be a grim few months for BBC employees. My thoughts are with them having to sit with such unease at the prospect for many of loosing their job.
