Does the BBC employ a new Political Corespondent every week or something...

It is far from unusual on weekend mornings for political reporters (including some normally on regional news) to appear on BBC News.

Peter Saull certainly isn't "new".

Only the beard is new.......... 🧔

Perhaps that's why I didn't initially recognise him.

Rebeca Jones just heard thanking a guest for appearing on BBC News 24. The shock of it! Very Happy

"News 24" just got a namecheck by Rebecca Jones on the BBC News channel.

She ended an interview by saying something along the lines of "thanks for joining us on News 24"

She then ended the following interview by saying "BBC News"

EDIT: Beaten to it!

Yep, because it's more or less BBC News 7

Wow! It understandably used to be quite a common error in the first couple of years after the name change but I think this is the first time it's been the referred to on air in years! Wouldn't really surprise me if it's still referred to as News 24 amongst everyone behind the scenes.

I bet it wasn't unintentional on Rebecca's part. Clearly vying for TVF News moment of the Year award at the end of this year. 😉

In fact he's turned up 2 hours early meaning the late shift now begins at 8:30 and from Studio E!

Interesting. I thought that Newsnight required E for rehearsal and pre-recording at this time.

Wonder what the reason is that he doesn't come on at 8pm?

I suspect Tim being on at 20:30 is a one off to give the team working on the 21:00 hour to prepare for the first duel headed programme in months and ensure the links to the Washington studio are all working properly.
