He hasn't been "gotten rid of". He's stepping back from journalism and politics to do other things that he hasn't had the time for.
Definitely seems like his choice, maybe voluntary redundancy but that's just speculation, definitely doesn't seem forced.
Very sad not to be on @BBCnews at One today to say a proper farewell to the great @BBCNormanS . Instead I’m with you from 1600, where we’re discussing the future of Panto. Oh yes we are.

Reeta at One, Jane at Four. Upside down day.
We had exactly the same kerfuffle here when Maxine Mawhinney retired from the BBC.
There comes a time in people’s lives when priorities change and the need to do the daily grind may not exist anymore, once they can afford it.
I would take Norman at his word - he wants to focus on himself, and enjoy life.
Some people here seem incapable of understanding that.

Reeta hasn't had many main bulletins during this pandemic, other than the Daily Briefings, seems fair.

Really? She always seems to be on to me! I had to laugh when I was with a family member recently and they went ''oh not her again!''

I think we might end up seeing this more often as well. It's nice to see Jane, Simon, Reeta, Ben and Clive doing a mix. Can imagine we might be seeing Ben doing the One soon as well, considering he was the highest number in 2019.

Wholeheartedly agree. Consistency has been on point. It's all the names you mention with a splash of Martine Croxall and Rebecca Jones thrown in for good measure.

Of course, I think when the presenters are confined to one slot it limited some of their hidden talent. Reeta has really shown herself as an excellent rolling news presenter - taking into account the fact she basically went from correspondent to 1/6/10 relief presenter. With the scrapping of the evening slot (which will probably be for the future as well now) we have of course seen Matthew back on our screens, which is brilliant. Jane back on rolling has also been a blessing.
I am a lot less sceptical about this schedule than I was previously. Alright, some people loose their slots and it looks like the days of branding is down the drain. And the simulcasts can prove a pain at times, and a certain 2 hour programme in the evening isn't particularly suiting. But all in all, the news channel now has news at the heart of it again and talented presenters can show their ability from all sides of them.

She's good but hasn't done much presenting during lockdown

I always laugh when she says PLARRRR-STIC.
