I don’t really watch the bbc news at 9am but every time I have it’s been Annita mcveigh presenting is she the only one that presents this bulletin?

Since lockdown it’s been Victoria Monday-Wednesday and Annita Thursday & Friday. Also on BBC One as well.

Do we think Victoria may retain this slot considering her programme was axed? Seems plausible considering the BBC said it was still very much invested in Victoria herself.

I would take a guess and say yes, and she is surprisingly alright at it. It’s not just a generic hour either, plenty more interviews with quite senior figures and she does almost make it seem like a visual radio show.

Agree with everything you've highlighted.

Most of these bbc news presenters deserve a well earned holiday! I don't think many, if any, have had any time off since March (not that there's much to do anyway, of course).

And that is exactly why this summer is going to be ‘interesting’.

Time to deploy Gavin Grey!

I imagine there is a B Team, made up of Alpa Patel, Chris Rodgers, Lyse Doucet, Ben Bland, Ben Thompson, Andrew Plant, Nancy Kacugria, Philippa Thomas, Tanya Beckett etc to cover the summer many of who have not presented on News Channel or World for months. Maybe Ben Hunte could be re-deployed as a presenter, too

Surely it's a tell tale sign what BBC management think of Martine Croxall. She's presenting another News Special on BBC One today.

Edited due to this EFFING keyboard!

Surely a telltale sign what BBC management think of Lukwesa Burak. Demoted to Focus on Africa while a Focus on Africa presenter covers what is usually her shift.

Adding to the chorus of agreement here - yes after all the fuss about it being axed, it turns out Victoria is far better suited to this format they have been running during the pandemic than the ridiculously over-produced stuff they did on the VD show. Has shown why she was rated so highly to make the move from 5 live to TV to start with. 9am has become a very watchable hour on BBC One, they should make this a permanent move.

Do you think her and Annita's current slot could return as "BBC News at Nine" post-pandemic?

Sigh. Focus on Africa is not a demotion. This programme is hugely popular in Africa, where it is also sold to other outlets for re-broadcast.

So, in all honesty, that 30mins programme commands a vastly larger audience than “The Papers” on the Channel.

I appreciate we are all entitled to our opinions, but sometimes you tend to make statements without thinking it through.

The suggestion that Lukwesa was ‘demoted’ (to an audience of millions) rather than the potential audience of ‘hundreds of thousands’ is rather juvenile.

And, for the record, Lukwesa is hugely popular amongst the Focus on Africa viewers, as is Nancy. Audience feedback on both is highly positive.

Notwithstanding, perhaps BBC News should get your approval before employing anyone in a presenting role on any of its channels. You could volunteer to become their official screentester.

Lol. Only joking. But please stop jumping to silly conclusions. 😉

Yes I'm reminded of this tweet from the other week:

Worth remembering that just because it's not on in the UK doesn't mean its got no viewers
