George was interviewed live by Nihal Arthanayake on 5 live Monday.
The NC ran a repeat of Your Questions Answers at 17:42 to clear the studio for the 6. No intro into the weather.
Worth noting also that George is on the Six today, he hasn’t appeared for a good few weeks. Great to see him as always.

Has Nicholas Owen left the BBC? I suspect that is the case, and it is a real shame he never got a proper send off.

Got to be at least a year now since he hasn’t appeared so I would assume so.

His last appearance was on Afternoon Live in October 2018 so , sadly, I imagine he has. It is a shame but since he never had a regular shift slot in the end I guess it was inevitable he never got a proper send off.

Rajini Vaidyanathan now on. I’ve never seen her present before, does she present on World usually ?
JF
She has been away from the presenting desk for a while as India Correspondent, she has presented World News America and World News Today before. did a stint on news channel over summer 2017 presenting WNT for about seven weeks has also done Beyond 100 Days. generally, I think shes a relief presenter.

She occasionally did WNA from Washington when she was based there. And also World News from London Studio C a couple of Christmases ago.
Now Delhi Correspondent.

Interesting that 5 out of 8 presenters on the BBC News Channel today are BAME. shows the ethnic diversity of talent they have
CM
I read a lot into BAME in journalism, have watched many panels discuss it.
I remember watching a video, not so long ago, with George Alagiah, Clive Myrie and a group of producers/editors discuss diversity in journalism at Edinburgh Festival.
They discussed the fact that the on screen presence of BAME is very much there, active and thriving. But the issue is the behind the scenes staff, and if I focus on the BBC, those holding senior positions.
It was Clive I think who said that there is one black producer on the news channel and one black producer on the 6/10 team. There were no editors of BAME backgrounds and the management is basically entirely white, male.
I think there is still much to do, particularly at the BBC, to increase diversity.

Sally Bundock won't be doing 'The Briefing' on Monday, her son swallowed a cube of mini magnets Magnet yesterday. They have been in hospital ever since “under observation”. But hopes to be back later next week...

Don’t worry. David Eades will fill-in and he guarantees pole to pole coverage of the World News.
