So I predict the News at Five will be back tomorrow and from Studio D (C is still being used by World at this time, isn't it?), And Pointless will be back on BBC One which I'm sure will excite many people who have missed viewing it each evening whilst eating their tea.

I doubt it. The current afternoon set up requires one less presenter than the usual set up and I can't see anyone being in any rush to add additional shifts into the rota.

It won't require an extra presenter. Ben, Reeta and Clive (who have been doing most of the daily briefings) would just be presenting the Five instead?

You can't seriously be suggesting that one person will do 1-5 and another will just do 5-6 (and what happens to the 18:30 half hour?). Clearly if the five returns it'll require the separation of the one and the afternoon shift whereas the current situation has allowed the one and five presenters to combine to cover the afternoon and the early evening.

You could use Ben, Reeta or Clive to do the 1 and the 5 with Simon doing his normal shift. Same amount of shifts as now.

Somehow I don't see Jane being on board with a demotion to a standard news channel shift considering she hasn't done one outside of Xmas week for several years. It also makes little sense to have someone sit around the newsroom all afternoon when they are meant to be minimising the numbers of people in there and the current shift pattern is working.

No I'm suggesting the later presenter starts at 4pm as has been happening but from Studio D.

With the lockdown easing will Studio B Come back and with it the return of the BBC World shows?

I would imagine that they'll be no rush to return anything to the previous coverage. July and August are always a period of lower human resource availability and I imagine that'll be even more the case this year (due to the relatively little time off taken so far this year) which, combined with the typically more relaxed news agenda during the summer, means it makes sense to remain on a schedule that requires fewer people at least until the holiday season is over. By remaining on the current schedule for another couple of months they should also have enough time to determine many of the next round of cuts and it'll look better for some things to never return rather than them returning for a couple of months to be scrapped again.
