With the daily briefings gone after today, the BBC will find itself in a difficult situation of using BBC One presenters on the News Channel. Although, I guess, despite it being unlikely at this stage, the return of Afternoon Live and the Five.
People who don't present on the channel haven't appeared on the daily briefing for a number of weeks. There is no reason why the 4-7 cannot continue to be a combination of Ben, Reeta, Clive and Martine.

Yeah, Huw and Sophie presented it near the start but haven't recently

It is a valid question, something I’ve asked myself. I’ve picked up some key differences.
Afternoon Live:
- Obviously the presentation is different ( TOTH etc) with different titles.
- Business updates aren’t currently happening on the NC, and the sport bulletins have been slightly shorter.
- News Nationwide dropped.
- Lost more interviews in the generic showing.
- Conversations with the weather presenter dropped, most are pre-recorded.
Five:
- Obviously the presenters, with it normally being Huw, Ben or Jane.
- The five takes a quite analytical approach to the news with a focus on the main story, a lot of interviews with quite prominent figures.
- Studio C instead of E
- There is often a “light” story as such at the end, where the presenter can often be found interviewing someone who is promoting something they have done, it’s sort of 10 minutes of breakfast television.
So broadly, not very different. I think that the Six will want E back for rehearsals now the press conference is scrapped.
Whats the difference between "the five" and the current "four thirty"?
Or indeed the difference between "Afternoon Live" and the 2/3pm editions of BBC News?

So I predict the News at Five will be back tomorrow and from Studio D (C is still being used by World at this time, isn't it?), And Pointless will be back on BBC One which I'm sure will excite many people who have missed viewing it each evening whilst eating their tea.

They could've just switched to BBC Two for Pointless

Yes but I know people will welcome it back to its rightful channel.

True, viewing figures are down considerably

I doubt it. The current afternoon set up requires one less presenter than the usual set up and I can't see anyone being in any rush to add additional shifts into the rota.
