It’s got to come back soon. For a simulcast, it is a decent programme. Far better than the other one that’s shown in the evening Wink

Will be nice to start seeing the normal schedule return, hopefully with some consistency, however I will miss the afternoons with Simon/Jane as they were the perfect mix in with the One.

And with Weekends starting to separate out (i.e after 4:00pm) surely it wouldn't surprise if we slowly but surely see World beginning to return to normal weekend shifts soon.

Hopefully everything doesn't return to exactly as before, I would prefer the current afternoon schedule and presenters like James Reynolds who didn't present on News Channel exclusive-programmes much before could remain

Indeed. But I can’t see Afternoon Live being scrapped, nor can I see Simon/Jane doing nothing the 1 and Afternoon Live. But we shall see. I don’t want to start fantasy rota discussion.

Martine in for Reeta today, Reeta in for Clive again. Strange but good choice.

Wouldn't say it's a strange choice, Martine is a good presenter

Yes, but this shift is normally held by the senior presenters (Ben Brown, Reeta, Clive etc) who also do the One (Six and Ten in Clive/Reetas case). Whereas Martine is generally just a news channel presenter.

Martine should be anchoring the Ten anyway IMHO.

Its the first time in 91 editions that a presenter not familiar to BBC One viewers has hosted the Coronavirus Daily Update

Thing is, there are so many so-say BBC One presenters (Huw, George, Sophie, Fiona, Clive, Reeta, Jane, Ben, Mishal, Kate, Simon) that there is no longer that great a need to get news channel presenters on the weekend or bank holiday. I can’t see, if and when one of the above leaves there will be any rush to replace. I can’t see, for some reason, the BBC picking a “rising talent” to take over 6/10 if the main presenters leave. It will probably just end up being Clive or Reeta - two very talented presenters who are more than up to scratch.

Martine is good in terms of being the opposite to Simon on Afternoon Live. But considering Simon will never leave, certainly without getting through me, she won’t be replacing him any time soon Wink
