I'd like to make, not so much an apology, but an update on Reeta Chakrabarti. I think from a previous post where I said I didn't understand why the BBC had catapulted her to Network TV was first of of all just.

Since that post, possibly some 2-3 years ago, I find her to be one of my favourite presenters of BBC News. I think she's just brilliant.

Next someone will he saying how much the miss The VD Show Very Happy

I agree. I wasn't a fan at first as I thought she was promoted far too quickly for her ability. I remember when Kate went on maternity leave in 2014 it was announced Reeta would be doing the Saturday bulletins and was a bit shocked 😲 as I never known her to present anything before, not even the News Channel. Then within weeks she was on the main weekday bulletins including the Ten and wasn't overly keen at all, considering there were more experienced presenters who were being kept confined to the News channel. I actually found her a bit wooden.

But my opinion of her now couldn't be more different. She really is in a class of her own.
Newsroom and cmthwtv gave kudos

Agreed, she is great. I still however think that her skills lie in rolling news, the press conference suits her very well. Same with Ben Brown - I remember criticism of him here however I think he is more than competent.

It's still sort of a shame though that not all of the talents at the BBC have proper slots. I have masses of hope that they sort this out once the appropriate shows return, and I have worked out various ways to fit people in post-COVID. At the moment we have seen the most continuity in ages.

Think its fair to say though Sophie will have definitely moved on from the One (despite someone on Wikipedia not letting me edit the fact that she is not the main presenter Monday - Thursday with Kate Silverton on a Friday Rolling Eyes ) for good and Clive won't really be seen on his evening shift either.

Who are you trying to list as main presenter of the One?

Well it’s clearly Simon and Jane on an equal footing

A lot has changed since Sophie was regular on the One, notably George reducing his days and Fiona also reducing her appearances, notably that she will never appear at the back end of the week when deputy presenters tend to appear. Meaning Sophie has adequate work covering the Six and Ten

I’m surprised Fiona hasn’t stepped away completely from BBC News given her commitments to Antique Roadshow and Question Time.

Nobody, I suggested an edit (pre-Covid) to say that it was a mix of Sophie, Jane, Ben and Reeta with Simon being a regular relief. Before COVID it tend to be Sophie/Ben/Reeta on Monday, Jane on Tuesday, Jane/Sophie on Wednesday, Ben/Reeta on a Thursday and almost always Ben on a Friday. But then of course we got consistency and Jane and Simon - something which even my not at all interested in news mother has noticed.

With Fiona, I find it strange as well. She’s consistent with doing the Monday Six but at the end of the day, if she didn’t present then it would be possible to make the Six just George and Sophie and the Ten just Huw and Clive. But I guess I understand why she would want to do it.

To be fair, these days Question Time is like Crimewatch...
