Maryam Moshiri is leaving the BBC Business Unit to become a permanent news presenter on BBC World News, hosting weekend late evening slots, including the partial simulcast hours with the Channel.

That's a shame. I'll miss her banter with Simon McCoy. At least it'll give that slot at the weekends some consistency.

Give her Friday evening and make her the main presenter of World News Today, Friday – Sunday, WNT with Maryam Moshiri has a rig to it

On Twitter she said she'll be "presenting predominantly weekends , including overnights on the News Channel". I would imagine the simulcast she'll be presenting is the one after midnight!

Quite possibly the start of wider changes to the business presentation considering Ben Thompson has said delayed rota changes are the only reason he has returned to Biz Live and Alice Baxter may well be back from maternity leave before too long (and someone will have to cover Steph's maternity leave in the not too distance future).

Wondered why he "left" Business Live then quickly returned as one of the main presenters

Is it just me or does Shaun Ley look like Adrian Edmondson?
Newsroom and South Today gave kudos

Hopefully, WNT gets a permanent presenter?

My guess is that Ben was meant to head to Breakfast to cover any summer leave including main pres and then Steph revealed her news which threw the rota up in the air. I'm going to predict that Ben will head up to Salford to cover Steph when she heads off on maternity leave. He could also step in and cover Watchdog?

Victoria Fritz may be another possibility for the Watchdog maternity gig as well. Knowing our luck, it'll be Amol Rajan covering that along with everything else that's on offer!

Don't know how Steph's news impacted Ben's move, he could've took an increased role in Breakfast like covering Summer breaks then covered Steph's break.

I would guess Michelle Ackerly or Angelica Bell from The One Show

Maryam's twitter bio suggests she's lead presenter of BBC World News. Wasn't that role once occupied by Nik Gowing? I'm not sure there has been a lead presenter on BBC World News since?
