Anytime I'm reminded of how staggered that relaunch was I'm just amazed that it took that long - about five months between Nationals and News 24 adopting and then another six months before World adopted.
It's a shame they did it in that order though - I feel they should have soft launched the look on News 24. At least then they may have realised that the set needed a bit of colour and we wouldn't have ended up with that god awful beige set in N6.

East Midlands got the new look late May 2000, so yes it was still rolling out for some time.
Wasn't it then another six months or so until it rolled out across the regions by the end of 2000?

According to TV Ark every region had rolled out the blue and yellow look by June 2000, but even then that is still nearly a year after the nationals introduced the look. Compare that to the 2008 relaunch where every region was basically sent a tin of white paint and the new titles for launch on the same day.

With reference to the video, one other thing was different at the time:
BBC World continued to use the weather maps once used on News 24, with the day in the top right, while News 24 adopted the BBC One weather maps with day/time in the strap from the top left.
In Autumn 2000, the new weather maps with a dark blue strap along the bottom harmonised the output across all BBC outlets.
The back half hour of overnights on World consisted either of a short 15" edit of WBR and Asia Today, or the full WBR or an edition of HARDtalk (0530 CET).
In all cases, WBR was first shown at 2230 CET on BBC World before being repeated through the night on BBC World and News 24.

If I remember correctly, the new corporate look started with a shot of the BBC East Midlands centre in Nottingham through the "window", then changed to a live webcam on the roundabout outside and the hillside up to where the Lace Market is. Didn't Trent Bridge accompany the Ironing Board desk?

Yes, having a look around too also noteable how much more generic the first incarnation of the standardised regional set were, pretty much being a clone of the national set with a few tweaks and some slight variations in colour, but otherwise pretty much the same in each of the English regions.

They were very uniform, although some of the 'windows' definitely were a bit shoddy. But it is interesting that they had already worked out to add some colour to the panels by the later sets. Apart from variations for different studio sizes, pretty much same shape, colours and desks - even more so than the current TC7-style sets that I know many on this forum dislike for their similarity.

Some of the windows were horrific; I nominate Spotlight (and their bad CSO) and Midlands Today for the original incarnation of two plasmas rotated 90 degrees (complete with UPVC window frame to actually make it look like a window installed on a council flat).
