BBC World News

I always thought the reason was so that, because News 24 and World now had the same onscreen graphics, they needed to fill the space on World where the clock was on News 24.

I think that might be a chicken or the egg switcheroo - the design of the DOG using the News Channel's clock area for the extended World News name was more likely a clever design answer to the problem of compatible graphics. Very unlikely the name change was informed by the design of the on-screen graphics. Especially when that only lasted a few years before being replaced by a completely modular system.

And yes, they should have stayed with News 24. And the Australian Broadcasting Corporation shouldn't have copied them a couple of years later, and renamed our ABC News 24 to the ABC News Channel as well.

They have been on YouTube before, but this user has uploaded the full set of BBC World and overnight titles and idents from 2001-2002, taken from the original laserdisc masters.

Yeah, sorry about that. I was getting all sorts of grief and hassle from people, most notably this user: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCu2ArgqayTqJKv_3FCoetwA, who basically couldn't understand how I could possibly have these and so repeatedly accused me of faking them, insisting that I had to make it clear they were 'recreations'. I tried to explain that they were 100% real on several occasions but I just kept getting repeated abuse about it. Coupled with some guy called Adam Withey commenting every day how many views I'd had and it was just too much. They'd only been online a few weeks and if that was a taste of YouTube in 2020 then I don't want anything to do with it.

As someone who sometimes has to deal with people like that, if you create another channel, you can go into your channel dashboard and block those people and remove those comments. Stops them ever posting on your videos again.

That’s exactly what I was going to suggest.

Disable comments in the YouTube settings?

They way the lunatic fringe don’t get to annoy you.

I find that poster to be one of the most bizarre, to be frank. He also uploads videos of BBC Weekend News bulletins from 10 years ago taken from news channel continuity which I'm sure interests no one (at least they're his own videos I suppose) and uploads weather forecasts of forecasters he fancies about 15 times a day which is just creepy. He even has the cheek to steal bbc news headline beds from this site and post them as his own videos.

I can’t think of a good signature.

Not entirely sure why he needs to put the Twitter addresses of about 20 of them in his video descriptions...

Or comment on people’s videos saying that it’s reached 700 or whatever views on this date. We don’t care, we’re not his children.

Or comment on people’s videos saying that their channel reached 200 or whatever subscribers on this date. He literally told me that I reached 100 subscribers a few days ago. It’s like I don’t know that I have a subscriber counter on my channel.
