No I don't think so Josh. I mean, I like the new BBC News backdrop, but it isn't all about the studio. They have improved the presentation by incorporating new ideas for the presenters such as walking down to the screen etc. A studio may seem necessary, but at the end of the day, it's also presentation that counts IMO. Also, your poll is unfair, since I really wanted to put 'No, BBC don't need a new studio' but the only option close is 'unsure.'

What is your opinion on the BBC News Studio ? is it now getting old..to cramped maybe or just plain boring.
There have been a few complaints I have seen over the smallness of the studio.
So what do you think ? Should BBC News Get a new studio ? Tell us why in here tell us of your ideas of a new studio or even tell us why they should keep the current one.
But Remember...BBC News are moving to Broadcasting House soon...And if the current studio is going to be used till then it will have been used for over 5 Years !

Despite moving to Broadcasting House there has to be a new set for the nationals before the move as it looks tired all ready and will certainly not be able to last before moving out to Broadcasting House. Perhaps we will just see a set change, with the same titles, and then a whole relaunch when BBC News moves to Broadcasting House in 2008 IIRC. I'd personally like a more realistic backdrop, like the one used 99-03 which I actually thought was the real newsroom, and a warmer looking set that doesn't looked cramped. The circular desk doesn't help either with it being a rectangular studio.

Sorry about the poll i did add No- Its fine as it is but it hasnt come up and when i go to edit it wont let me add one...
So What Would you like the new studio to look like ? Describe or even mock !
I remember one BBC studio which was exactley like the current one but it looked a bit longer and had a more realistic background.

Well I would like to see a new set before the move to Broadcasting House, but I don't think it will happen. But I have a few ideas on how to improve the current set.
I would remove the top of the desk and put in a glass top, and put the computers back under the desk, and just have the grey trim around the edges.
Anyone remember that newsroom backdrop used when BBC World decamped in the National studio? I don't think it was real, but it certainly looked better that the current one and the one before it. It was kind of like a gallery. I would use something like that.
I would dim the lights at the end of the bulletins and instead of the cameras being controlled from the gallery, I would have camera operators in the studio, and this would allow more imaginative camera angles to be used.

It would be nice to see the above kind of thing used on the tv.
I like the current graphics, but would maybe animate the astons and speed up the globe on the opening titles, and reinstate the 1999-2004 music.
I think if these changes were implemeted, the set would look a lot better.

Seconded. Even World's set would serve a more presentational point than the current excuse of a National studio.
There are a number of aspects which really great my goat but I'll spare you.
Simply put, Hope it changes.

Never liked the current BBC1 set - the worst of the three since 1999.
Though nothing terrible innovative, the News 24 set though is very easy on the eye and looks a million times better!

I would hope that one change that takes place is that if the speculation about Breakfast moving to News 24 early next year is correct, Breakfast should be forced to use its budget to give the News 24 set a bit of a revamp. At the moment, the News 24 set is not suitable for a seven days a week morning show. It wouldn't hurt, and would help give News 24 a bit more of an edge, especially as they are being murdered by Sky News and to a degree ITV News in that department now. The set just looks too small and cramped.

Umm, two minds there.
I'd like to see the set been developed upon surely but to what degree I'm not sure. I'd love to see how they intend to present Breakfast from there - Are they going to create a new area or using the excisting area with a sofa shuffed in?
That pod isn't used much anymore...

I think i mentioned a while back, I wouldnt mind if they just moved the perspect bits about to create a new spacious area where they can have a soft set. After all the still dont use the pod anymore, and even though space is cramped, they could cut into the newsroom space a little more... couldnt they....
