But CountryFile never had a regional forecast? Or did some regions opt out of the national Weather for the Week Ahead and do their own?

I'd be surprised if they did, because IIRC Craven sometimes referred to going to the weather centre "in London" for the forecast. The Radio Times said that last week there was the Weather For The Week Ahead during Country Tracks, but this week it was during the Politics Show (there was no Country Tracks because of the Grand Prix). They seem to be trying to keep the weather as close to 12:00 as possible - because there's no proper lunchtime news other than the midday headlines - and because of the structure of the Politics Show it works better to have it as a regional forecast on these occasions.

Having said that, I don't watch the Politics Show every week, so I don't know whether or not the regions are now doing their own forecasts regardless of what week it is.

I think it is generally accepted that its easier to see more detail on these new maps on the regional forecasts, that's why they ditched the forecast after the regional news when they introduced them. I guess they're trying out the weather for the week ahead during the politics show because it already contains a regional opt.

And after the process of adding weather presenters to the teams in the regions, there should now be a weather presenter already on shift in the regions.

Most (I think) regional bulletins on Sunday evening, that were extended to accommodate a regional forecast, now contain one (live or pre-rec).

I suppose, as they now do a week ahead forecast in the evening Countryfile as well, it makes sense - if they're going to stick with doing two - to have one regional.

Ahh I think a key bit of info has been missed out here - there was the regional weather at the end of the local opt out, followed by a Politics Show sting, and then Jon Hammond in TC7 doing the national weather.

Might have worked better to have had both as a standalone weather slot straight after the programme, maybe starting with the regional forecast and the local presenter throwing the Jon Hammond for the national forecast.

Why not the other way round? Only takes one region to be out with the timings then all hell breaks loose!

Well unless that region is London, it is only that region that is affected. Actually a better idea - why do we need to have both, can't the regional forecaster do the whole thing, both the local forecast and the whole nation?

Does anyone have the 90 second news bulletin from yesterday? When they were showing the list of e-mails that have been targeted, I'm sure I spotted a friend's email in that list. Just want to double check and make sure i wasn't seeing things!

Look out for double weekend bulletins from "wherever you are" from the start of Nov. I believe lunchtime and late rather than teatime at present but may be wrong

And about bloody time too. The regional news at weekends at present is appalling and has been for years. We still don't have a regional forcast on Saturdays (up until last year we didn't have one on Sundays either).
