I noticed today that Look East appears to be coming from Cambridge today.

The bulletin was presented using a single camera throughout, a slightly different view of the forum in Norwich and behind the presenter (Kevin Burch) was a metal pole with a red backing below. Having checked Fridays East and West editions it looks very much like the Cambridge studio. Kevin also appears to be resting his arms on a desk (something which you can't do on the Tefal desk in Norwich).

Something is certainly happening in Norwich, whether it affects on screen or not who knows. Today's bulletin again came from Cambridge, and made use of Janine Minchin, one of the Close Up presenters. The weather forecast was provided by Chris Fawkes. Their certainly seems to be a commitment to Sunday forecasts - I'd expected it to be dropped.

It looks like Norwich have had the floor repainted into grey, with the floor around the desk painted white. The Tefal table no longer has the Tefal spot. Everything else appears to be the same.

Wonder whether Cambridge will receive some modifications in the coming weeks.

A weekend's worth of programmes from Cambridge, just so Norwich could repaint the floor? What a let down ! Wink

Two of the sports presenters from East Midlands Today came into the shop I work in this afternoon. One of them told me all about how they're changing the screens from rear-projection to blue screen, so they're having to buy new shirts and ties that aren't blue.

BBC Scotland just changed a the Partick Thistle v Rangers match from BBC 1 to BBC2 half way through the second half of extra time! Surely the news could switch to BBC2 or something instead of interrupting the match halfway through play.

Are look north NEC now the only remaining region to still retin the basic 1999 set? as far as I can remember apart from the walls changing from blue to red and the plasma being replaced by a screen its still the same set with the same desk ect. I think it looks great though. Must be one of few proper sets left at bbc news Wink

Spotlight still have theirs! Albeit with grey and red paint, a couple of exta CSO screens and a new desk. And some trendy new uplighters!

Southampton's set is still largely comprised of the 1999 set as well. They have had various different desks and sofas over the years, and have dispensed with the "window on the world", filling it with a virtual newsroom PBU. I think Cambridge still have their 1999 set and desk too.

The Spotlight set has been shifted round considerably over the last couple of years. It may have had a slap of paint ocassionally, but still only has the original 2 CSO screens. The 'screen' often shown for interviews during the lunchtime bulletin is an image overlaid from a fixed camera position.

The back-projection screen was added a couple of years ago along with the "soft area" for the 18:15-18:30 part of the programme (and Politics Show South West) , and that screen is now used for Breakfast bulletins to present the weather.

I was reliably informed by Gavin that the 'trendy uplighters' are called "Par Cans" Laughing (and I can't buy them from B&Q)

The 1999 music in the titles for the regions sounds much better than the horrible 2005 music or the "london" music as it was also known.

And you found out that I quite like them.

Buy your cheap disco tat here:Terralec.

Put a cap up and I can probably find you the exact model & lamp type used. Par Cans are dirt cheap for professional lighting fixtures (being literally a PAR lamp & can).

Did any of the regions go into their local news with an ident tonight as the six finished properly, rather than with "now we join our news teams where you are"
