It's the same with BBC Channel Islands (previously Spotlight Channel Islands).
Do St Helier, like Oxford, verbally use the word "...News" at the end of the programme name (albeit that it isn't written as part of the main programme name, on the title sequence endboard - again, just like Oxford)? Or are all verbal references literally just "BBC Channel Islands"?

This is what I find odd about them introducing the "BBC Oxford News" title. Previously, viewers in the sub-region had some sort of "South Today" branding at all times (albeit that the Oxford-based bits would also shoehorn the word "Oxford" on as a suffix/prefix etc).
Now they get two totally different titles during a single half-hour - exclusively "BBC Oxford News" for first half of the programme, then exclusively "South Today" for the second half! Messy.
