Is it me or maybe I have just missed it but for some reason has the BBC TV English Regional News on BBC East Midlands Today stopped using the globey / swirly effect that wipes accross the screen during the Headlines on the Opening Titles ?

Maybe, but plenty of regions weren't capable of doing it in the first place so have been cutting during titles/heads. AIUI, generating the wipe can tie up a lot (or even all) of the facilities on the kind of vision mixers regional sites have.

NWT have done more tinkering - they've reduced the size of the font on their straps. Give it a few months, all the regions will change bits and pieces, and we'll be back to where we were before.

Yep - some regions may have to pre-edit their headlines if they want to use the wipe in their headlines.

Surely if the headline sequence is pre-recorded that wouldn't be a problem?

Is there anywhere online I can see a current 2225 edition of BBC Look East (West)?

Whenever I've checked, they only ever seem to put the 1830 programme here.

I'd be interested to see the West title sequence. Or is the title-sequence the same regardless of whether pan-regional or sub-regional? Does the other sub-region's 2225 bulletin have an "East"-biased title sequence?

South Today have a different version of their opening credits now. On last nights late news (10:25) there were no "Oxford" area names included, instead more place names from the rest of the region, I noticed Guildford popping up...

BBC London have a new desk!

Its a bit like a hybrid of the breakfast coffee table and the TC7 desk - looks much better than the cardboard box they did have!

Well, seeings as the "Oxford" region has a fully-separate 2225 bulletin, why not?

As the Southampton programme must still be the default "fallback" if the Oxford bulletin is ever unavailable (due to technical problems etc), maybe they'd revert to the "region-wide" titles for the 2225, out of respect for "Oxford" viewers? (If they had enough prior warning of Oxford's imminent unavailability).

Arguably, the 1830 programme could get away with also using the "Oxford"-excluding titles, as the title sequence itself is only seen by viewers from Berkshire southwards, as "Oxford" viewers don't join in until at least 1840.

This makes me wonder if Look East (East) has an "east"-biased title sequence at 2225?

I like the new London desk, at least it dosen't remind me of Deal or No Deal any more! Laughing

Why did they ditch the old BBC London theme tune?
