Just seen the opening to BBC London - I presume the pre headlines sequence is pre recorded. I find it strange that the opening was done in front of the screen, then straight after the titles the presenters sitting down.

Headlines have been recorded for a long time now!

Sure have - all regions do it!

Think some regions still do them live - though the number is reducing...

But how many regions make it so obvious and strange. If London recorded the headlines and then did the first story in front of the screen, in the way Huw introduces the first story on the Ten, it wouldn't look strange.

Leeds must have the capability as the Super League Show does the BBC Sport graphics, including animations. But Look North doesn't animate the astons at all. Is it that it'd be too much for a gallery to do all the time instead of just once a week so it's left simple?

Don't forget that Leeds has two galleries - it may only be available in the main gallery, so they've kept it simple so that Breakfast and weekends match.

Yes indeed, there were a few regions that routinely transmitted their headlines live, but most (possibly all now, following the new look) chose to prerecord them a few minutes before transmission. It can be a complicated and fast sequence and obviously it's the first thing your audience sees, so if it's a shambles it doesn't exactly auger well for the rest of the programme.

Well North West have been tweeking already. The back screens with the view of Salford Quays now have a red strip with "BBC North West Today" scrolling slowly across.

Also they're using the BBC Sport graphics now too.

The BBC Sport graphics are being used here in the South as well from what I've seen.

Are behind the scenes pictures of any interest? As part of the BBC Channel Islands index (bbc.co.uk/jersey/tv) I'm thinking of doing a few behind the scenes galleries of the studio, gallery and editing suite.

Is it worth doing or is it all a bit boring and old hat?

I can do the studio one today if it's something that would be of interest but the gallery would have to wait until May as it's being refit then.

I think if you ask a question like that on this forum the answer will almost always be yes.
