Back to the music, I still stand that the pips and the thunderclaps are elements I would be sad to see leave. A significant shift in everything else would be welcomed, however.

With the new opening sequences coming (not titles but pans across the newsroom)

Is this something that has been confirmed or just speculation?

I'm bored of the whole thing. News, graphics, the lot. Never been a fan and can't wait for the day it all finally gets changed for something completely different.

Can't see it happening for a long time though, given that the current theme will continue in their new location.

This whole thread is sacrilege... Laughing

I'm not sure where to start here... The music isnt the problem, it's the way it is used that has made it stale. Visually, both channels are BORING. When you look back at World from 1999 to 2008 the channel itself had idents and trails whos graphics and music differed from the bulletins. Even News24 went through phases where it had a proper channel identity.

Now they just feel like big long endless bulletins. The only saving grace for World is that they have differently branded programmes that sort of breaks up the day a bit.

If the presentation on the channels were different and more polished then the music would feel fresh once again. Whenever i see the current countdown on World with its shoddily edited ending i just shout at the screen. Crying or Very sad This newsroom camera could end up being nothing more than the Boring last two seconds of the boring countdown with the same boring music since 2005. They can keep the current titles and music, but if they dont do something drastic about the presentation of the channels themselves and make them distinct from their programmes, then ...**** em i'll just remove Duh Nyooz Chanul from my EPG and delete my World News stream.

If you had asked me a couple of years ago would i be annoyed or upset if they got rid of David Lowe's music i would have just said "Shut up that will never happen"... right now i couldnt care less so long as the World Business Report music endures.

But, Phil, didn't you just love this? I don't know what the technical term is for the long, big drumbeat at the beginning (is it a vamp? I don't know). But, that was synonymous with BBC News. made it unmistakable as to what programme was on.

Well actually, I hate that headline bed. Much prefer the later versions that were less messy.

I thought we already established that I thought the 1997 World music was far superior Very Happy

In a video posted in the Broadcasting House topic, the director in it basically shows the camera and says that it will be used for World, Channel and 1/6/10. So hopefully it will be

I don't know whether chris was referring to the actual titles (as in graphics). I take it these aren't changing (since they're already in HD) and that it is just the astons which are changing.

Very good points, sir. You hit the nail on the head. I was always in love with the big, bold, brash virtual era graphics and music and I vaguely recall the May 1999 changes to BBC One's news bulletins, but I can't particularly remember being that impressed by them at first. It was when I went on holiday to Rome in 2000 that I first saw BBC World with its new branding and I was mesmerised. The channel was presentationally fantastic... everything from the 10 second countdown to the breakfiller to the news music. It was simply awesome. In fact, it was when I returned home that I started looking for it online and found TV Home, TV Ark et al. So, I've a lot to thank BBC World for Smile Shortly afterwards we upgraded to Sky Digital and I got to see News 24 for the first time, and was equally impressed by its presentation. Fast forward 12 years and if I was discovering both channels for the first time, I don't think they'd prompt me to dive into the online world of TV pres like the previous branding did. They're far too boring for that.
