Midnight News still on Radio 4.

BBC Radio 4:
6.00 Lord Kitchener's Image
6.30 Off the Page
7.00 Front Row
7.30 Great Lives: Winston Churchill
8.00 Just a Minute
8.30 I've Never Seen Star Wars

What do NUJ members do on The News Quiz and The Archers?

Is that not 0600-0830 so the time Today would be on, rather than 1800-2030?

I assume there will be no 12:45 and 17:45 Newsbeat on Radio 1, but they should be able to put bulletins on the :30s out with what staff they have that are freelance e.g. Dominic Byrne

Dominic will be at the Moyles OB so will probably be able to do the bulletins within that show, providing somebody is able to do the prep in London, but I would doubt he'd do anything beyond the Breakfast show.

Forgot they were OBing all week. Where is it from tomorrow?

Perth, I think.

Gets them through to 1am and the ability to share with BBC World until 6am, then BBC One until 9am I suppose.

Bit dangerous though - time to pray there's no breaking news in the next 20 minutes.

Presumably it will be a joint service throughout the next 48 hours with everyone dipping in and out as required. They did this last time but I think that was more to do with that everyone would be leaving the newsroom behind them.

So will BBC World News viewers notice any disruption to their service or is this a purely domestic affair?

BBC World News is just as likely to be disrupted. The journalists on BBC World News are employed by BBC News in an identical way as the same people who work on BBC One/Two News bulletins and the BBC News Channel - they are all effectively part of the same newsroom. As such BBC World News production journalists and reporters have the same pension issues...

I suspect that the aim will to be produce a single stream of TV news (repeating fairly regularly) to provide content for BBC World News, the BBC News Channel and BBC One.

Some freelance journalists and presenters might be NUJ members and not wish to cross a picket line, however I believe the advice (from the union) is that they should work (as to do otherwise would be a breach of contract?) but not do work other than their normal duties (i.e. not to do the work that those striking would normally do). (This is the BECTU advice in such situations)

And therein lies the problem of recorded bulletins:

"The first strike action by NUJ members begins in under an hour, at midnight".

Interested that he looked at if he was going to do a timecheck, then didn't as well.

How does such a situation work for freelance relief presenters? Presumably many of them wouldn't be working if the strike wasn't on - as those in the usual shifts would presumably be at work - but they are contracted to present when usual presenters are absent?

So, sweepstake on how long before the first unscheduled episode of Hard Talk turns up?

I'm wondering what's to come after Simon King's weather forecast just now. Surely they wouldn't just repeat the HardTalk we've just seen?

EPG says World News America - the 5 Live EPG is up to date so that might be accurate.

Ironic showing of a trail for the Today Programme there too!
