I was wondering what would happen if some really, really big domestic breaking news happened tomorrow. Could they stop the strike during the day?

If those on strike felt it to be important enough, I doubt anyone would stop them walking back into work.

Surely Huw would avoid the strikes like last time?

I suspect that if it was a huge story they would probably decide to cancel the strike.

This makes very interesting reading. The Head of News - who is also a BBC Pension Trustee - doesn't seem to be entirely happy with the management line on the pension scheme which has triggered the strike. (Basically the BBC have decided to re-jig the pension scheme rules - causing a huge potential loss to many employees - without waiting for the full report on its health...)

The much publicised £2bn deficit may well be half that size in reality... Sure that's a deficit still - but if it is half the size, then the remedy is potentially very different. Of course now the BBC has had it's income frozen in real terms (unless the licence-fee base grows massively) for 6 years the goal posts have been moved again no doubt.

I assume there will be no 12:45 and 17:45 Newsbeat on Radio 1, but they should be able to put bulletins on the :30s out with what staff they have that are freelance e.g. Dominic Byrne

Rod McKenzie will no doubt make an on-air appearance.

So will BBC World News viewers notice any disruption to their service or is this a purely domestic affair?
