Dobbie at 10am

Interesting the Benefit Changes story appears to be using some video that isn't shot in the UK to illustrate the story.

Ticker headlines haven't been updated in well over 12 hours. Dobbie becoming face of the strike, a few have broken the strike (Charlie stayt, Simon McCoy) but he seems to be one of very few who are happy to do overtime. And a lot of it.

Poor Emma Crosby.

Poached by Sky News as a rising star from CNBC - where she guest hosted their US breakfast show several times - before zipping over to GMTV in its dying days.

Now scab labour on the News Channel.

It'll be interesting to see what they do at 12noon with the bulletin due on BBC1, maybe BBC World will run a recorded bulletin at this time.

I wouldn't say that - there is always a beginning and this is it!

Out of interest, who do we think would come off worse for their actions in career terms? A so called "scab" like Emma Crosby, or a very public protester like Newsnight's Paul Mason?

Difficult to compare them - Paul Mason is very well respected (and presumably staff with a major interest in ensuring his pension isn't slashed) with a strong track record in original and distinctive journalism. He's also father of an NUJ chapel I believe?

Emma Crosby is a freelance presenter with a moderately successful background (though hasn't taken the best career choices in the past possibly) - but I have no idea of her journalist credentials. She looks good on camera (though possibly a bit too 'glam' for the BBC - her clothing choices are a bit GMTV) and reads well - but doesn't have a regular position on any major broadcast outlet - so presumably needs the work.

Yep - it's a great way of endearing yourself to future colleagues who will be producing you ...

With the number of job cuts coming, that may not be an issue for long.

There no reason why BBC World can't stay with BBC1/News Channel. They've done it with parts of Breakfast, and with yesterdays News at One

Suspect it will be just as much of an issue... Those who remain will probably value supportive presenter colleagues - and be less favourable to those who assume an 'I'm alright Jack' attitude... With fewer people - teamworking will be even more important.

Yeah, you may well be right. However, the amount of people working is much greater than last time, so it will be harder for them to single people out.

I can't imagine anyone crosses the picket line lightly.

I imagine some of the people we've seen (like Simon Mcoy?) are non union members but only doing there contracted work, nothing more..sure some freelancers are doing the same. Some people might not be legally entitled to strike with out breaching there contracts.
