Newcastle have joined Leeds again for a Christa Ackroyd presented bulletin. Peter Levy is in Hull.

Surprised Newcastle haven't been able to get something on air, even the Channel Islands opt is on.

No surprise to see Peter Levy, he was on during the last strike as well. If we're trying to get a complete record, Tim Iredale did the lunchtime bulletin at Hull, linking into a report from himself.

Cerys Griffiths (North West Tonight editor) was presenting the 6.30pm, and she said she'd be back after 10pm.

Had a flip over to BBC Wales too and Lucy Owen was presenting as normal.

Chris doing the 6 tonight!

Long day for Chris Rogers, he was reading the news on LBC at seven this morning.

I wouldn't think Peter would be in the journalists union, what with his cheesy DJ background. I'd expect Christa Ackroyd to be though. It'll be interesting if she's back at 10:25 or if Ian White crosses the picket line.

I may be stereotyping, but is it likely that the North East still has very strong union membership due to various union activity in the past, and hence why they have provided nothing on air all day.

(well at least at time of posting, how long is it since Dermot left Breakfast?)

And yet - as someone pointed out to me yesterday - the likes of Richard Bacon have been absent despite being little more than a presenter. Not that I have a problem with this, but would someone like that really be a member of the NUJ?

Back in 2007, wasn't it? Only a month or two after Natasha Kaplinsky.

But I do miss that backdrop on the BARCOS - I personally really liked it, far warmer and friendlier than that horrible orange tile backdrop they replaced it with.

So to sum up today on BBC News:

12.00 Recorded bulletin with Chris Eakin
1.00 Naga Munchetty
5.00 Recorded bulletin with Naga Munchetty
6.00 Breakfast with Gavin Grey
8.30 Simon McCoy
11.00 Peter Dobbie
1.00 Emma Crosby
5.00 Chris Rogers
7.00 Peter Dobbie

Sport with Mike Bushell during Breakfast, then Adnan Nawaz followed by Amelia Harris.

It looks like Naga and Simon aren't member of the NUJ but only wanted to do what they would usually do out of respect for the strike - otherwise I'm sure they'd be in higher profile slots with Simon doing the six and the ten.

Emma and Chris are freelance and have only just started working at BBC News, so not particularly surprised they're working. Gavin Grey is certainly the most random appearance of the day. Peter Dobbie I'm most surprised about.

Emma's been best, enjoyed her today, maybe her and Chris on Breakfast tomorrow?? Wouldn't be a bad programme with them and Mike doing the sport.

You don't have to be a member of the NUJ to have a problem crossing a picket line. I know a number of non-union presenters who won't do it out of principle.

Interesting that very senior members of the BBC management team have been voicing and appearing in-vision today. Jon Williams and Jonathan Baker are both very senior managers in the newsgathering operation I believe.

Who are we all betting will do the Ten?

Also, any thoughts on who will be appearing tomorrow? Gavin said he'd be back on Breakfast tomorrow. You'd think with the programme being 4 hours long he'd have a co-presenter. Naga maybe?

Would like to see Emma Crosby and Chris Rogers presenting Breakfast tomorrow together, but probably wont happen. Gavin Grey seems an odd choice for a very prominent slot.

I doubt there will be a co-presenter on Breakfast. There are lots of sports and weather slots and filler programmes on Saturday Breakfast to break up the shift. It's only Breakfast in name, it's basically BBC News and shifts on the channel can last over 4 hours.

They may have a few problems dealing with BBC One news bulletins starting and finishing at random times within the hour and how to opt in and out of BBC World at the same time.
