Thanks for that. I didn't know Stephen Cole was so unpopular here. Shocked It's a shame he stopped presenting on World, he was my favorite.

Never before has a detailed and lengthy Home Sec. Immigration Speech been more welcome in W12.

Last time there was a strike it was NUJ and Bectau unions. I remember in the London region last time we only managed a 2 minute news bulletin after the 10.

I'm sure during the last strike Look North Hull got something out early evening. IIRC Peter Levy still showed up for work

BBC Press saying that the One will be full length.

With the news channel just about able to fill a full hour so far, no surprise really that the half hour One will go ahead

I guess the BBC1 daytime updates are dropped today?

Probably, we'll find out in about 10 minutes...

EDIT no update as expected

Peter Dobbie just taken over from Simon McCoy. Brilliant. Nice to see him back on the domestic news channel...

Wow, they have used Peter Dobbie for the News simulcast!
I guess it's the first time (for a while, I guess) BBC News viewers will see him...

The person in charge of the thunderclaps is a bit trigger-happy this morning, isn't he?

Mind you, if it's someone who hasn't done it before I'd appreciate the excitement. Laughing

No countdown clock there - talk about making it difficult for yourself.

The only other thing I'd say is that there's something strange about me that almost likes the presentation today - it's more laidback, less 'let's fly out live to the scene to someone who knows no more than we do in the studio', and more discussional (as there are few reports).

I have a feeling that they are monitoring BBC World News unstead of the domestic channel...
BBC WN has the countdown, but the only think I've noticed it they are using the same countdown.

I think the BBC News Channel is doing a pretty good job despite the circumstances. Nice to see Peter Dobbie back on in the UK again too.

Nigel Slater's Simple Suppers will be replacing the regional news on BBC One today. Wallace and Gromit tomorrow, apparently!
