Saw about this on TV earlier, will it be a matter of what happened before - with World News and the News channel simulcasting one or the other?

Bet we see Tim Wilcox appear. Also this is when the London Fire Brigades Union are due to strike - though I would imagine if they continue talking the strike would be postponed.

I think Tim would steer clear to be honest, surely he was at the BBC during the last big strike and yet wasn't seen on screen.

Well it is a unique opportunity for Tim to be on both channels at the same time all day long. How can one resist? Very Happy

I agree with House. Tim didn't work during the last strike. I'd be very surprised if he presented this time.

I wonder if Susan Osman will fly back from China for a stint similar to the last strike a few years ago.
No doubt majority if not all staff working will be freelance if the strikes go ahead.

I doubt Susan Osman would return after the way she departed. If I remember correctly Susan Osman and someone from the FastTrack programme on BBC World (is that right?) presented two of the three shifts.

Out of interest, how does such a strike affect those abroad, such as the Washington team or foreign correspondents? Especially about timezones?

Ah yes, wasn't it Akhtar Khan? And I'm sure I remember Stephen Cole presenting too. Funny how none of them are still with the BBC...

Akhtar Khan and Stephen Cole IIRC

Yea, from what I remember, these two and Susan Osman covered the whole day - Akhtar presenting between 01:00 and 09:00, Susan until late afternoon and the Stephen in the evening, including the 6 and the 10.

Yep... Did great things for their careers didn't it... It will be very interesting to see who appears on-screen for a sustaining news service.

Quite easily I suspect...
